How to Add a QR Code to a Patient Take-Home Care Sheet
Link printed take-home instructions to a video walkthrough or up-to-date care guide. Generate a dynamic QR code in EZQR, drop it on the care sheet, and update the linked content as protocols evolve — without reprinting every patient handout in the supply closet.
What the video covers
- Pick the resource you want patients to access — A short video showing how to use crutches, a written guide for post-op wound care, a printable medication schedule, or a "when to call us" symptom checklist. Anything with a public URL that complements what you already hand them in print.
- Generate a dynamic QR code in EZQR — Paste the resource URL. Dynamic so you can update the linked video or care guide any time the protocol changes — same printed sheet in your supply closet, latest content behind the scan.
- Drop the QR onto the take-home sheet — Place it near the top right at around 2cm × 2cm with clear white space around it. Add a caption like "Scan for the wound-care video" or "Scan for the latest medication schedule." Patients are tired and stressed leaving the visit — make the value of the scan obvious.
- Test scan with both iPhone and Android — Print one copy. Scan it with both an iPhone and an Android phone before duplicating for the supply closet. If either struggles, increase the QR size or simplify the destination URL.
- Update the linked resource as care protocols evolve — New procedure technique? Updated medication guidance? Switch the destination from your dashboard. Existing printed sheets stay in use, the linked content stays current — and per-code analytics show how often patients actually open the resource.
