Home Change a QR Code After Printing Walkthrough
How to Change a QR Code After You Have Already Printed It
Already printed and the link needs to change? If it is a dynamic QR code, you can update the destination from your dashboard in seconds. If it is a static code, you have to reprint — but you can switch to a dynamic code now so it never happens again.
What the video covers
- Find out which kind of QR code you printed — Open your dashboard. If the code is listed there, it is dynamic and editable. If you generated the code on a free static generator and never made an account, it is static and the destination is baked in — there is no way to change it without reprinting.
- For dynamic codes: open the code and edit the destination — Click into the code in your dashboard, change the destination URL to the new link, and save. The printed QR is unchanged but every scan from now on goes to the new link.
- Test the change with your own phone — Scan the printed code (or any copy of it) and confirm the new destination opens. Changes take effect instantly, so you can verify in seconds.
- For static codes: reprint, then switch to dynamic going forward — Static codes cannot be edited — the URL is encoded into the pattern itself. Reprint with the corrected link, but generate the new code as a dynamic QR code in EZQR so any future change is just a dashboard edit.
- Watch scans on the corrected destination — Dynamic codes track every scan. Watch the analytics to confirm scans are landing on the corrected destination — and to see how much traffic the printed code is actually generating.
