# EZQR Service Level Agreement

Last modified: 2026-09-14
Description: EZQR

99.95% monthly availability for dynamic QR code scans, measured by an independent monitor with a public history at [uptime.ezqr.ca](https://uptime.ezqr.ca/). If a month falls short, one month of your subscription is credited on request.

## The Commitment

**EZQR commits to 99.95% availability of dynamic QR code scans in every calendar month** - roughly 22 minutes of allowable downtime. Availability is measured by an external monitoring service from outside EZQR's own infrastructure, and its record is public, so you never have to take EZQR's word for a number. As of September 14, 2026, the monitor shows 100% over the preceding two months.

| Service | Commitment |
| --- | --- |
| Dynamic QR code scans (the "Scan Service") | 99.95% monthly availability, service credit if missed |
| Dashboard and API | Best effort - not covered by the credit |
| Marketing site and free generator | Best effort - not covered by the credit |
| Static QR codes | Not applicable - they never contact EZQR when scanned |

The scope is deliberately narrow. The thing you printed is the thing that has to work, and that is what the commitment covers. The dashboard being unreachable for an hour costs you an hour of editing; a scan failing costs you a customer.

## How Availability Is Measured

1. **An independent monitor scans a live dynamic QR code.** The monitoring service at [uptime.ezqr.ca](https://uptime.ezqr.ca/) checks, at regular intervals and from outside EZQR's network, that a real dynamic QR code resolves to its destination - the same path a phone takes when it scans your code.
2. **Downtime is time the monitor reports the Scan Service down.** Monthly availability is the minutes in the calendar month minus reported downtime minutes, divided by the minutes in the month.
3. **The record is public.** Current status and historical uptime are on the status page for anyone to check. EZQR does not run the monitor and cannot edit its history.

## What Does Not Count as Downtime

Most SLAs are defined by their exclusions. This one has three, and the usual fourth is missing on purpose:

- **Your destination being down.** If a scan resolves correctly but the website, PDF, or form you pointed the code at is unavailable, that is not EZQR downtime.
- **Scheduled maintenance announced 48 hours ahead.** Announced on the status page in advance. EZQR deploys without interrupting scans, so this is reserved for rare infrastructure work such as a major database upgrade.
- **Events beyond EZQR's reasonable control.** Regional internet failures, actions of the .ca registry, or similar force majeure events.
- **Not excluded: the hosting provider.** Many SLAs exclude outages of the vendor's own cloud provider, which removes the most likely cause of an outage from the guarantee. If the server in Toronto is unreachable, the clock is running, whoever's fault it is.

## Service Credit

**If Scan Service availability in a calendar month falls below 99.95%, you may request a credit equal to one month of your subscription fee** - for annual plans, one-twelfth of the annual fee. To claim it, email [support@ezqr.ca](mailto:support@ezqr.ca) within 30 days after the end of the affected month. The credit is applied to your next invoice.

- **Credits are issued on request, not automatically.** The status page is public; if a month fell short, one email is all it takes.
- **Credits are applied to future invoices and are not paid in cash.**
- **Credits are available only to subscribers who were paying for the affected month.** The uptime commitment itself applies to every dynamic QR code on the service, including sponsored nonprofit accounts and trials.
- **The service credit is your sole and exclusive remedy** for any failure to meet the availability target. This Service Commitment is incorporated by reference into the [Terms of Service](https://ezqr.ca/terms-of-service).

## How a One-Person Company Backs a 99.95% SLA

That's a fair question. And the answer: I have over ten years of experience running systems like this one. I build EZQR to be strong, efficient, reliable.

## SLA FAQ

## Does EZQR have an SLA?

Yes. EZQR commits to 99.95% monthly availability for scanning dynamic QR codes, measured by an independent external monitor whose history is public at uptime.ezqr.ca. If a month falls below that, paying subscribers can request a credit of one month's subscription fee. The full terms are on this page and are incorporated into the Terms of Service.

## What does 99.95% uptime mean in minutes?

About 22 minutes of downtime in a month - 21.6 minutes in a 30-day month, 22.3 in a 31-day month. Anything beyond that in a calendar month triggers the service credit.

## Where can I see EZQR's uptime history?

At uptime.ezqr.ca, which is a public status page run by an independent monitoring service, not by EZQR. It shows current status and historical uptime, and it is the same monitor the SLA is measured against.

## Does the SLA cover static QR codes?

It does not need to. A static QR code has its destination encoded in the pattern itself and never contacts EZQR when scanned, so there is nothing that can be down. The SLA covers dynamic QR codes - the editable ones with scan analytics - because those are the ones that depend on EZQR being up.

## How do I claim an SLA credit?

Email support@ezqr.ca within 30 days after the end of the month in question and say you are requesting the SLA credit. The credit - one month of your subscription fee, or one-twelfth of an annual plan - is applied to your next invoice. Credits are only issued on request; they are not applied automatically.

## What if the hosting provider goes down?

That counts as downtime. Many SLAs quietly exclude outages of the vendor's own hosting provider, which removes the most likely cause of an outage from the guarantee. EZQR does not exclude it: if the server in Toronto is unreachable for any reason short of a regional internet failure, the clock is running.

## Do free or sponsored accounts get SLA credits?

The 99.95% commitment applies to every dynamic QR code on the service, but a credit is a refund of fees, so it is only available to subscribers who were paying during the affected month. Sponsored Canadian nonprofit accounts and trials are covered by the same uptime commitment but have no fee to credit.

## Is the SLA a binding contract?

Yes. This Service Commitment is incorporated by reference into the EZQR Terms of Service, and the service credit is the sole and exclusive remedy for unavailability under those terms.

EZQR: static QR codes are free forever; dynamic QR codes (editable destination, scan analytics) require a plan.
