Description: Static QR codes are free forever for everyone, including Canadian nonprofits. Registered Canadian charities also get 5 years of sponsored access to dynamic QR codes - editable destinations and scan analytics - from a Canadian-built generator.

Static QR codes on EZQR are free forever for everyone - no watermark, no expiry, no account. Registered Canadian charities and similar nonprofits also get five years of sponsored access to dynamic QR codes (editable destinations, scan analytics) on us.

## What Canadian Nonprofits Get

Two things, depending on what you need:

- **Static QR codes - free forever, no account.** Generate as many as you want on the [home page](https://ezqr.ca/). No watermark, no expiry, downloadable as PNG, JPG, or SVG. If your destination URL won't change (a permanent donation page, your homepage, a vCard for the executive director), a static QR code is all you need.
- **Dynamic QR codes - 5-year sponsored access for Canadian nonprofits.** Change the destination after printing without reprinting, and see [scan counts, location, device, and time](https://ezqr.ca/track-qr-code-scans) for every code. Normally a paid plan; the program covers it for five years for eligible Canadian organizations.

## Who Qualifies

- **Registered Canadian charities.** If you have a CRA Charitable Registration Number (the 9-digit BN with the `RR0001` suffix), you're in. We'll verify against the [CRA charity listings](https://apps.cra-arc.gc.ca/ebci/hacc/srch/pub/dsplyBscSrch?request_locale=en).
- **Non-registered Canadian nonprofits, considered case-by-case.** Community groups, religious organizations, registered amateur athletic associations, school clubs, parent-teacher associations, and similar mission-driven Canadian organizations without formal CRA registration. Tell us what you do; we tend to say yes.
- **Nonprofits elsewhere in the world.** The formal program is Canada-focused for now, but reach out - we'd rather have a conversation than turn away a mission that lines up.

## How to Apply (Takes About Two Minutes)

1. Create a regular account on EZQR (the same signup as any paying customer).
2. Email [support@ezqr.ca](mailto:support@ezqr.ca) with:

   - Your organization name and website
   - Your CRA Charitable Registration Number, if you have one - or a 1-2 sentence description of what your group does if you don't
   - The email address on your EZQR account
3. We extend your account's trial to five years manually, usually within one business day. You'll get a confirmation reply.

No credit card required at any point. You don't need to ever enter payment details during the sponsored window.

One small ask - optional, and never a condition of the program: if your organization has a website, a link to [ezqr.ca](https://ezqr.ca/) from your sponsors, partners, or resources page helps other Canadian nonprofits find this program and helps us keep sponsoring it.

## What Nonprofits Actually Use Dynamic QR Codes For

### Donation page links

Print one QR code on event signage, annual reports, donor mailers, and pledge cards, pointing at your donation form - a Canadian fundraising platform like [Zeffy](https://www.zeffy.com/) or [CanadaHelps](https://www.canadahelps.org/) works well. The [Neil Squire Society](https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/id/87692/), for example, takes donations through its CanadaHelps page - a QR code on printed collateral could point supporters straight there. If your donation form ever moves to a new platform, update the destination in EZQR - no reprinting.

### Volunteer recruitment

Point at your volunteer signup form, training portal, or shift schedule. Swap destinations as the campaign moves through phases.

### Event signage & program info

One QR code on a poster can point to event details before, the live program during, and a feedback form after - same printed sign, three different destinations over time.

### Annual reports & financials

Put a QR code on printed brochures linking to your most recent annual report or financial transparency page. Update yearly without reprinting the brochure.

### Newsletter & social signups

Drive supporters from print collateral to your mailing list, Instagram, or Facebook page. Track which printed pieces actually convert.

### Post-event surveys

One QR code on a placard at every table or seat, pointing at a feedback form. Move the destination to next year's survey when the new event rolls around.

EZQR isn't an event ticketing platform - if your event needs ticket issuance or entry validation, point the QR code at your ticketing provider's page rather than trying to use the code itself as a ticket.

## Why a Canadian-Built QR Code Generator?

EZQR is built and run in Canada by [Sean Wilson](https://ezqr.ca/about), a Canadian software developer. The company is governed by the laws of British Columbia. Operating on a [.ca domain](https://ezqr.ca/qr-code-canada) requires a Canadian presence under CIRA rules - this isn't a US site with a Canadian-sounding name.

Beyond EZQR, Sean does pro-bono technical work for charities and nonprofits - the sponsored-access program here is the same instinct applied to the product itself, rather than a marketing campaign with strings attached. Canada has no shortage of charities doing meaningful work - the [Neil Squire Society](https://www.neilsquire.ca/), for instance, uses technology to empower Canadians with disabilities.

Practical implications for your nonprofit:

- **Canadian jurisdiction.** Your data and contract are governed by Canadian law, not a US state.
- **CAD billing.** If you do convert to a paying plan later, Stripe charges in Canadian dollars at checkout - no surprise USD-to-CAD currency conversion fees.
- **Real support, real timezone.** Email goes to a Canadian human in Mountain/Pacific hours, not an overseas ticket queue.
- **Independent operator.** No private equity, no ad-tech buyer waiting in the wings to break the product after acquisition.

## Static vs. Dynamic: Which Does Your Nonprofit Need?

| | Static QR Code | Dynamic QR Code |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Cost for Canadian nonprofits | Free forever | 5 years sponsored, then renewable |
| Account needed | No | Yes |
| Change destination after printing | No | Yes - anytime |
| Scan analytics | None | Count, province, device, time |
| Best for | Permanent donation pages, vCards, WiFi | Event signage, brochures, campaigns, anything you'd otherwise reprint |

### Program Summary

- Static QR codes: free forever, no account
- Dynamic QR codes: 5 years sponsored for Canadian nonprofits
- Eligibility: CRA charity number, or case-by-case for others
- No credit card required during the sponsored window
- Renewable after 5 years for active orgs

## Free QR Code for Canadian Nonprofits - FAQ

## Are QR codes really free for Canadian nonprofits on EZQR?

Static QR codes on EZQR are free forever for everyone - Canadian nonprofits included - with no watermark, no expiry, and no account required. Dynamic QR codes (editable destinations, per-scan analytics) are normally a paid feature, but registered Canadian charities and similar nonprofits get a 5-year sponsored extension at no cost.

## Who qualifies for the 5-year nonprofit program?

The primary path is a registered Canadian charity with a CRA Charitable Registration Number (also called a BN/RR number). Non-registered Canadian nonprofits - community groups, religious organizations, registered amateur athletic associations, school clubs, parent-teacher associations, and similar mission-driven organizations - are considered case-by-case. If you do good work in Canada and need editable QR codes, send an email describing your usecase to support@ezqr.ca.

## How do I apply?

Create a regular EZQR account from the home page, then email support@ezqr.ca with your organization name, website, CRA Charitable Registration Number if you have one (or a short description of what your group does if you don't), and the email address on your EZQR account. We extend the trial on that account to five years manually - usually within one business day.

## What happens after the 5 years are up?

Get in touch and we'll renew it. The 5-year window is a soft cap to keep the program manageable, not a hard cutoff - active Canadian nonprofits using EZQR for their mission are welcome to stay on the program indefinitely.

## Why is a Canadian QR code company doing this?

EZQR is built and run in Canada by Sean Wilson, who also does pro-bono technical work for charities and nonprofits outside of this product - extending the same idea here was an easy call. The marginal cost of an extra dynamic QR code account is effectively zero on our side, and the work Canadian charities do is worth more than the foregone subscription revenue.

## Can my nonprofit use QR codes for fundraising events?

Yes - common uses include linking to your donation page from event signage, sharing the auction or pledge form, pointing guests at the program PDF, collecting post-event feedback, and promoting your annual report. Note that EZQR is not a ticketing platform; if your event needs ticket issuance or entry validation, use a ticketing provider and point the QR code at their page.

## Does this work for nonprofits outside Canada?

The formal program is Canada-focused for now. If you're a nonprofit elsewhere and EZQR fits your needs, email support@ezqr.ca and we'll talk - we just can't promise the same 5-year terms for every country yet.
